RELIGIOUS SERVICES AT BETH SHOLOM


Religious services at Beth Sholom are known for their warmth, communal atmosphere, active congregational participation and opportunity to learn.

 

HIGH HOLY DAYS 2008/5769

Rosh Hashanah services will be held on Monday evening, Sept. 29, and Tuesday & Wednesday,
Sept. 30 & Oct. 1.

Yom Kippur services will be held on Wednesday evening and Thursday, Oct. 8 & 9.

Babysitting will be provided for Erev Rosh Hashanah (Sept. 29) and Kol Nidre (Oct. 8) services.  Youth services will be held on the first day of Rosh Hashanah (Sept. 30) and Yom Kippur day (Oct. 9).  You must be pre-registered for babysitting and youth services.

Tickets are available for $200 per adult for non-members and unrelated guests of Beth Sholom members.  Students and military personnel are admitted free of charge with I.D.

FRIDAY EVENING SERVICES: Services begin at 8 p.m. and are followed by an Oneg Shabbat, which can be sponsored by member families and friends.  Contact the Beth Sholom office at 301-663-3437 for information on sponsoring an Oneg.

SHABBOS MORNING: Services begin at 9:15 a.m. and conclude approximately at noon. A Kiddush luncheon (usually with our traditional cholent) follows the service.

Monthly Shabbos morning family services.  The first Shabbos morning family service will be Sept. 27 at 11:15 a.m.

Bar and Bas Mitzvah students participate in leading the services both Friday evening and Saturday morning.

Kid-ish Kids, Shabbos activities for young children, meets every Saturday morning at 11 a.m.

Each week, the Friday evening and Shabbos morning services are held at the same location, either the Community Center or the Synagogue. Watch for listings in the monthly Bulletin or on our Calendar to determine which building will be used. Updates will be posted on the home page of this Web site.

Milt Gordon at the morning minyon.MINYON: Shacharis services are held every Thursday at 8 a.m. and every Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Weinberg Chapel of the Community Center. A light breakfast follows the 40-minute service.

HOLIDAYS: Schedules for holiday services are listed in the monthly Bulletin and on our Web site. Special congregational holiday celebrations accompany many holiday observances. These will also be listed in the monthly Bulletin and on this Web site. Most holiday services are held at the Community Center. Please watch the calendar.
