Vision and Mission
Community
Beth Sholom Congregation continues our century old tradition of instilling within our community a sense of sacredness. We are dedicated to maintaining an atmosphere of openness and acceptance. We seek to inspire, educate and support all those who yearn to be touched by the timeless wisdom of the Jewish tradition as well as those who marry into the Jewish community. Through our commitment to egalitarianism, we enable and encourage all those who wish to embrace the traditions and rituals of our people.
Spirituality
As a religious and spiritual center, we join together in exploring and enriching our personal and communal connections with God through prayer, Torah study, performance of mitzvot and the celebration of sacred moments. We provide opportunities for each individual to journey along his or her own path towards a sense of connection. In practicing a Judaism filled with love, literacy, reverence, compassion and joy, we strive to imbue our ancient traditions with a spirit of relevancy and meaning that is compelling and welcoming to contemporary Jewry.
Lifelong Learning
We are dedicated to the value of lifelong Jewish learning and to providing excellence in our youth and adult educational endeavors. We strive to instill our learning with the depth, creativity, discovery and enthusiasm essential to developing meaningful forms of Jewish education.
Tikkun Olam
Our awareness that each individual is created B’tzelem Elohim—in the Divine Image—and our recognition of the inherent spark of divinity within all Creation, calls us to partner with God in the ongoing Jewish project of Tikkun Olam, or repairing our fragmented world. We seek to cultivate a commitment to engage in causes of social and environmental justice with the ardent belief we can make a difference in our community, our country and our world.
Culture
Beth Sholom Congregation strives to embody the fullest expression of our shared cultural heritage. Through food, music, literature and history we celebrate the depth and beauty of Jewish life. By creating moments of social engagement, we strengthen the bonds of our Jewish community.
Israel
We recognize and celebrate the centrality of the State of Israel to the modern Jewish experience. Dedicated to fostering a deep relationship with our homeland, we acknowledge and support the multiplicity of ways that Jews express their love, commitment and concern for Israel.
