Holocaust Remembrance Day Program

May 5th, 2024 from 1:00 pm- 2:30pm.

This year our speaker will be Patricia Weil Coates, telling the story of her mother Helga Wehrheim.

It Starts with Antisemitism….

Helga Wehrheim was a beautiful, athletic teenager growing up in Frankfurt, Germany. Hitler’s Gestapo special police arrested her when she was 19. After months of being held in a Gestapo prison, Helga was sent to the Ravensbrück concentration camp.

Her story of life as a student and teenager in Hitler’s Germany, her survival in the all-female concentration/ extermination camp; her long and arduous journey back home to search for her family after liberation; will be presented by her only child, long-time Frederick resident Patricia Weil Coates.

Please join us as Patricia tells her mother’s story, which has unfortunate parallels to the hate, antisemitism, and racism that is rampant in the world today. Could such a thing ever happen again?
